Great story about the big cats in OK, especially the info about a collared one from the Black Hills of SD being killed by a train near Red Rock. That's only a short distance from the deer lease I had this year and that train track passes just south of the lease. Seeing a mountain lion in that area would be a special surprise.

Yes it is. But if I'm not mistaken they have a range of around 150 miles. They are quite the traveler. And I don't suspect there to be a lot of them around these parts anymore.
There was a confirmed (by more than one credible witness) lion sighting on our place in Pontotoc county in the early 90's and more than a few credible testimonies of cat prints through the years since in the same area. None recent that I am aware of. All the cattle on the place since the mid 80's have been larger than a lion would target, so no surprise they are not being seen a lot. I am confident they are still around.
Yeah I think I read 10 to 400 sq. miles once.
Cool. I havent seen one on our place in probably 15 years. I kinda miss seeing them.
