You mean like let the Shah be pushed out of Iran, botch the rescue of American hostages from Tehran, Give the Panama Canal back to Panama and now the Chi Coms run it . Created Department of Education, worsened the energy crisis of the 70's ... I know I am missing a few things but his time in office was not a great time for America .

Inflation and double digit interest for mortgages.

As far the Dept of Education, if it was run correctly, nationwide all schools would be on the same page.

Example, in 1978 we moved from CT to CA. I had ended the 6th grade in CT, started the 7th grade in CA. The books I was given in CA, I had already had in the 5th grade in CT. I was set back 2 years.

We then moved to OK in November of 1979, middle of my 8th grade year. We moved to Tupelo. I had to play catch up in Oklahoma from the 2 years I was set back in CA.

If the Dept of Education was run correctly nation wide, that would never have happened, I would have went from one to school to another and transitioned to the new school seamlessly.

Now thats my experience, your may be different.
Well, that's the government for you. The road to hell is paved with good intentions and that road passes through DC.

Don't leave out his biggest fiasco, the Dept of Energy.

I do believe he was a good person. He was not Presidential or a leader. He was extremely intelligent, but short on
common sense.

May he R. I. P., having lived long enough to rise from worst ever to number 3.
Beyond that, good riddance.
Department of Education comes to mind.

He was a bleeding heart that got the authority to implement his feelings through policy.
Social justice, education, energy, even after his term he kept working for a better global community.

He probably really believed all the bovine excrement he was selling.

Yes, he wasn’t very good at being President, very few of them are. I did respect him for his faith, and his desire to do what he could to make us a better society. We all have different thoughts on what that would involve, but not many of us actually attempt to improve even a small part.
