I think I've finally gotten him used to the camera - it just took around 300 pictures or so. It's all goood tho. He's starting to smile and stuff a bit more so I hope to be able to take some more of him in happy-mode soon.

Just a SB600 w/ an OmniBounce bounced off of the ceiling or wall. Seems to work pretty well and make it look at least somewhat natural. =]

Sorry for all the questions - I love taking pictures - I do the best I can with a Digital Rebel and Separate Flash with a coffee filter tape to it!!

No problem at all bro. I'm using a Nikon D50. I picked up the flash used on some Nikon forums.

You can check out http://strobist.blogspot.com for some info on off-camera lighting and other lighting options. Your idea of a flash w/ coffee filter likely works great for diffusing the light similar to my Omnibounce.

You know, a good sideline is shooting kid pics.

I do need to work on a print portfolio to show parents and whatnot. I get a lot of requests from moms at church and whatnot but have a hard time finding time to get them all done.
