National Ordnance 1903A3

Hey guys, I picked up National Ordnance 1903A1 at the big show, and am reading these have a poor reputation.
Anybody have any personal experience with one?
I'll bring it to a smith to get the headspacing checked out, but was hoping someone here might have some ideas as to the safety.

Hopefully you didn't pay as much for that rifle as a USGI 1903 goes for. I've seen a couple of NO '03s, and was not impressed by the workmanship, though I've not shot one; I hear their quality can be hit or miss, and some make good shooters... others not. Definitely get the headspace checked by a qualified gunsmith! What is it you want to know about the safety?
