well you just described a lab!!! i have 2 of them and kids pull on there ears and tails and they don't even flinch... they both weigh about 65 lbs and my wife spends about 30 mins a day exercising them.... it is also a proven fact that Labs can love more than all other dogs..

You know, I read stuff like this all the time, and I must have just had bad luck, but I've known 4 lab owners, 1 down the street, my neighbor, my sister and a good friend, and those dogs are all bat s#!^ crazy.

I would also say that Boxer's are really great dogs, I've been around a ton of them. The only problem I've seen is that they have a relatively short life, maybe around 6-7 years because of (I think) joint problems.

My ex S-I-L had a Staffordshire from pup to adult raised around my G'kids.
Never a real problem for them other than it played a little rough sometimes.
It was however plumb freaking crazy around strangers and other dogs.

What I want to know is, what happened to the mix that killed your dog??

Well that wasn't my dog and it wasn't really her fault. My daughter took our dog over to her and she was near her food so....

That being said, my daughter will never be within 10 feet of that dog again.

I had one that was great around the family but had what the vet called "self resepect". It wouldn't let anyone mess with it. They had a note in his file at the vet that only I could hold it during shots testing ect. They tried... once and it ended up with an unconsious tech and another that narrowly missed having the side of her face torn off. When I held him he would wag his tail while they were taking blood and giving him his shots.

He also lashed out at a kid that ran around a corner and jumped on him. The kid got a few stitches and a lesson about dogs.

He was great with the family but did have "self respect" as the vet called it.

I would say that it varies from dog to dog, but your chances are high of finding a lab that is more tolerant than most dogs.

I would get a GSD. we have two and they still amaze me everyday with how smart they are. They are great with kids they let my brothers 15 month old twins do what ever to them with out a care in the world. when the twins get up to walk around the dog stands right next to them and lets them hold on so they dont fall. The one thing i love about GSD's is they dont bark unless something is WRONG. They have a whine they do if they want your attention or need something.
