Need some opinions on this fungus

Hope this is in the right area redirect if I’m off. A friend of mine and myself have been looking for different edible mushrooms and he found a bunch of these behind his house what do you all think?

They almost look like jack o lanterns. Do they glow in the dark?

No they don’t he said these have false gills?? Not sure what the difference is?

I'm not sure then. I've seen white chanterelle in the spring here. I'm never brave enough to ID some shrooms for folks but they look like what's in your pic.

Woodear fungus. It is edible. Best dried out and added to soups and things of that sort

I really enjoy fresh mushrooms but not brave enough to pick my own. "there are old mushroom pickers, there are bold mushroom pickers but no old- bold mushroom pickers"
