I had an opportunity to take a brand new shooter to the range today. We had a great time and after shooting several different handguns I'm betting his first purchase will happen within the month. It's always fun when your friends become "shooting" friends.

Your expierence with a new shooter turned out better than one that I took back in college days. There were 3 of us Jason, Dan, and myself. Jason and I were standing about 2 feet apart when he handed the pistol to Dan. First thing he did was grab the "go button" and shot it right between us. Wow, Jason quickly grabed the gun from him. Moral is we did not take Dan again.

Great job teaching him today!

I took my 15 year old nephew shooting for his first time today. He started with a .38 then went to the CZ 75 compact, my 15-22, last he asked to shoot the 590a1. He is a nerdy computer playing kid, I have never seen a smile that big after he unloaded some 12 gauge!!

No bueno. Yeah, this went much better than that. I noticed right away he had a healthy respect for the guns, he asked intelligent questions about how to hold to firearm when you aren't shooting it, we discussed when it was a appropriate to have your finger on the trigger & when it's not. We also talked about how we both are going to look into some formal training. I think he'll be good, safe shooter - at no point in time did he do anything that made me uncomfortable but we also weren't shooting simultaneously so I was able to focus on what he was doing when he had a gun in his hand. Some girl asked him to help her clear a jam which was pretty funny because was like "I'm probably not the guy you want to be talking to."

That's awesome! I bet you guys where the only ones at the range with the ammo shortage.

Nah, there was a full house. Two families up there shooting with kids & wives, it was good to see. I like families that shoot together. Also saw 4 younger women come in together, each had their own pistol - I've never seen a group of girls like that - but again it was good to see. Things like that really obliterate stereotypes.
