Got me a new Bushmaster AR-15 today.
Went in to 2A and they had shelves full of AR's. Prices looked pretty close to inline to me.
Mine was $949 before tax $1038 out the door.
Thats only $100 more than Wal-mart was selling them for befor the silliness.

nope, the silliness continues. Walmart in Yukon only has a few bolt actions in stock and can't get ammo if their lives depended on it. Still seeing gouging all over the place. 2x and 3x retail for mags. Nearly 2x retail for most .308 I've been able to find.

What I'm most afraid of is the guys (gals?) who stockpiled this stuff at gouged prices will try to recoup their money so the gouge prices will continue into the foreseeable future.

Yeah, the Mustang Walmart has had practically no ammo in months. I got lucky and bought 3 boxes of 50ct 9mm there about 6 weeks ago. Haven't seen any .22lr, 9mm, .40 or .45 there since then.

Congrats on the new toy though!

Thanks guys. This is my first AR. I got 250rds of ammo last month and ordered 3 mags from Brownells. Got the ammo in two weeks. The mags were backordered. Just got them a week ago.

Carbine AR's lose lubrication faster and get dirty and sluggish if not well maintained...if you want your life to depend on this gun in SHTF scenario, you better get plenty of cleaning supplies for the field. Semi-auto has less of an issue so you have that going for you, and you can upgrade to chrome bolt carrier group to lessen the carbon. But DI (direct-gas-impingement) was never meant to be used in a short carbine gas system so that compounds the issues the full-sized outdated M-16 design already had. Congrads, but just know your limitations if this is a SHTF rifle..
