That said, not at all surprising that he would. The National Socialist German Workers' Party defined themselves as “socialists” (but not “Marxists”). Goes to the varying degrees of “socialism”.
Like today’s Democrat Party, the Nazis thought of themselves as a kinder and more civilized brand of socialists.
Which is why left leaning folk hate to be compared to Nazis. Without fail (Goodwin be damned), they will childishly deflect to whine that Christ was a socialist when he most definitely was not. Then to avoid the Nazi comparisons, they will try to redefine socialism by an “is or is not” dichotomy and that is not accurate.
They do this because many tenets of the “Democrat Plantation” align with the Nazis ... gun control, abortion on demand, government healthcare, indoctrination of children in school, government takeover of some businesses and molesting small farm animals.
