We see this all the time also over the years. We live near the first asphalt road after crossing the river into the country. People kick their cats and dogs out into the woods. By the time they make it up to where we live most are torn up by coyotes and/or covered in ticks. We used to try and take them to the humane shelters or the city dog pound, but they always say they are full and to adopt them. We can't do that. Tried to rehome them with a local am radio station and so on, but no takers. Now we just let nature take its course or if they are really bad off, euthanize them. It sucks badly to have to do that.
The owners that dump dogs need the same jail time as someone abandoning their kid.

Not a whole lot I hate more than MFers tossing their pets out of the car and leaving them alone in an environment they are not suited for and likely won't survive in. There just ain't a whole lot of things lower than that. One day I'd really like to get my hands one of these cowards.

My wife is in very bad health. She spends her day in bed, other than Dr's she is home bound, yep we make a pair. One night a pickup went by at about 40-45 mph and TOSSED a kitten out the window. he did not land well but scooted out into the bushes. I looked but he was hiding, may have had trust issues at that point. The next Morning my Mom and I found him. All he claws had been removed and neutered, He was not old enough. But he fit in my hand, tiny fella that was covered in fleas. So in the house he went and a warm bath to be rid of the fleas and I told my wife we were going to keep him.

Now she has never really been a cat person, but in the shape she was in she could not get enough air to tell me no. See I have been married a while, I know how to plat. :) Anyway this cat, now named Rusty, became her "therapy buddy". He was like her shadow, she was his mommy. Then a couple of claws started to come back. He could walk on her lap and poke her skin so it would bleed. Sadly he is going to the vet to get the butcher job done fixed. That and as he got older the balls dropped, so yeah, he gets the "vet special". I took him for her, I think he still hates me. lol

Now fast forward to the last medical problems she had. That cat was a mess, his momma was not home. Each time she came home people with a truck and flashing lights came and took her away again. (total of 8 times) So Rusty decided since I fed him I was not so bad. Now the special part came along when the Cardio people sent my wife who just stops breathing when asleep (Chain Stokes) not Apnea. Anyway they send her home and tel me to monitor her. No insurance is bad. But when she would sleep I had to be awake, when she would start to "cycle down" in her breathing a gentle tap on her hip or shoulder is all it took to stop the cycle and she would breathe properly. Now when she was awake I had to be up due to the care she required, so I could not sleep. Our kids did their best to come and let me sleep.

Back to the cat, he is very jealous, any time I lay on the king sized bed he will get in between us. He normally sleeps at the top of her pillow. But as I watched her sleep so i could tap her to keep her from pausing 30-45 seconds he watched and watched. After a week or so when I would start to reach towards her he would take his paw and tap her on the head, then glare at me. But the longer we went the more he picked up on the "why". Now I have no idea as to how, but that cat can be in a different room and go shooting through the house because Momma is getting ready to stop breathing. He has taken over the sleep watch.

Now this is not a normal cat. He fit in my hand when we bathed him the first time. As of yesterday he is 23 lbs of full built tomcat looking steroid junky. That is still mad at me for getting his boy parts removed :) But I would do anything for the silly cat because he makes my wife smile and laugh. And she can sleep in peace.

All this from some AH that I saw toss him out of a moving pickup, I would still put that worthless turd down if I found him.

Did you get their license plates? If so, I have a supply of sand burrs, raccoons, and possums that need to be rehomed.
I can just see someone’s face as a complete stranger shows up in their front lawn and drops the tailgate on their truck and lets out a few garbage bags full of sand spurs and a couple dozen raccoons. Got a good chuckle out of that.
