[Glock 'em down]

This thread was my introduction to the flat lights - i may have to try one

At first i thought you guys' were carrying around your Apple TV remote

I've carried a round style flashlight clipped inside my left front pocket for probably 16-17 years now. The flat ones are so much more comfortable.

However, the ones I own, the Olight Arkfeld UV, have the button on the side, which makes it practically impossible to use it in a defensive role. Therefore, I haven't completely retired the round style lights yet.

I'm really digging the Streamlight Wedge XT, but I'm not crazy about it's 2 stage UI. If it could be programed for high only, I'd own one. But high/low or low/high won't work for me. Maybe they'll add that feature in the near future.

Hard to beat a snubbie to this day for an effective pocket pistol, or a Spyderco for reliable one-hander

That said - i am somewhat routinely on the lookout for a Glock 42 (the .380 version ) -- i used to pocket carry a Sig 238 baby 1911 in a neoprene sleeve and it was quite small - 7 shots vs 5, and can carry 2 extra mags very unobtrusively

-- but one day after acquiring a bigger .380 (Walther PPK ) - i thought -- lets have a shootout between the old German and the newer carry gun
--- That 238 was dry, but was a jam-o-matic - couldnt make it through one 6 round magazine without 3 tap-racks. Such a nice pistol too but it was then that i decided that it was too finicky for a pocket carry piece and went back to a J Frame - Dont have to run it wet for it to be reliable - the Glock 42 doesnt require much pampering either.

Had the 9mm version Sig but dumped it when folk started complaining of extractor breakage. The .380 Glock is only marginally smaller than the 9mm, and why I went 9mm, but also, at the time, the .380 was the test bed for the later 9mm, and there were a lot of problems with the .380, so, rather than wonder if I was buying a new older stock problem child, went 9mm due to mostly sterling reviews. My first G43 would do 1"/25yds, but it was donated to a single mom, and now with declining eyesight, am not even trying to dupe that with the replacement.

How many of you guys actually use the stuff you carry every day or 2? I realize defensive tools don’t get used every day. I hate carrying much in my pockets. I used to carry a lot more when I was tacticool. Now I’m just an old fart with negative opinions about most things.

I posted yesterday and today - the items posted (not counting the pistols) get used about everyday -

multi-tool, pocket knife (because unfolding a multi tool just to get to the knife blade is a pain just to open a package) , ink pen, readers, headache powder -- daily use , all of them

conspicuously absent from my loadout is a flashlight - i need to change that , or at least have one handier. My goofball dog escaped her dog run last night and was running around in my back pasture like a happy loon while i rummaged through drawers to find a flashlight to go fetch her - just never felt a need to carry one in the daylight, but it has occurred to me that if iever have a vehicle issue and am looking around underhood , or anything similar -- might be nice to have one handier than rummaging through my backpack for one also

Well, I use my watch, house key, and car key daily, pretty much a knife, too, and the gun which as a civilian has been only used once against a guy who tried to mug me with a knife and went home to his wife minus his wallet and cash he had on-hand, and the stilletto which I still have...and that's all I carry. I don't even try to be prepared for everything, only the most likely. The gun is largely a waste of effort, but....meanwhile, the modern cell phone works for most stuff, including a light when needed, but it cuts like crap. Probably am going to again carry a Swiss Soldier/Pioneer knife for mainly prying, it flat and only 2.5ozs and easier to access than digging my old P-38 out of wallet.
