I usually take my deer in KS and probably will again this year; but I am also going to the woods here in OK today. If I am not sure if I will shoot a buck or a doe, do I have to have a license for each?

Deer: GunHunting license & Deer gun license (antlered or antlerless) for each deer hunted

not sure if this is say's one of each kind or one tag for each deer - could I buy a buck tag and shoot one doe if not a good buck shows up? I know a doe tag won't work on a buck (I doubt) but I think a buck tag (in a lot of states) will work on a doe.

I have a lifetime so I’m not sure of the answer. Unfilled buck tags used to be good for a doe on the last day. Otherwise, a separate tag is needed for both. Buy both if you can swing it. Take a doe if a decent buck doesn’t show. You’ll only be out an extra 20 bucks and you’ll be covered either way.
