I'll try to get more info; that happened in the area where I grew up. I'll give an old friend a call and see if he knows details. Glendale is a small community SE of the Wister Lake dam on a county road that goes from the lake to Howe on Hwy 259. Plenty of deer and handy for people living around Poteau, Wister, Howe, or Heavener.

I don't hunt out of a tree stand - main reason being that I am afreid of heights. I have known of people going to sleep and falling out of tree stands since I was a teenager back in the 60's.

I have stopped climbing and hunt entirely from the ground, in blinds, chairs, etc.

If one does climb, look up "fall guy" safety climbing devices. They are superior to all others.

That stinks - Luckily, I doubt he suffered at all, given the path of the bullet and ending up in the neck.

Tree stand-related injuries (which is what I would call this) are by far more dangerous than any other single aspect of hunting, whether it be falling or something like this.
