My wife says the same thing but I don't know how to explain it. I had no issues sky diving but you put me on the edge of a tall building and my stomach turns and I get dizzy, even close to the window will have the same effect.

I can't explain it but it's not the same with the tree stand. When Im up there or even climb up there, it doesn't bother me at all. First time I was kind of nerve wrecking but it didn't have the same effect as sitting on the edge of a tall building. I guess climbing all those trees when I was little made trees feel normal to me, I don't know. There are still moments, like that split second when I lean forward until the harness catches me but nothing big. Im not nervous in it or anything or I would not do it.

:faint: YIKES !! I knew it ... you are NOT right ...

GC and I argue over who is gonna go up on the roof if something needs to be done up there ... :laugh6: Why does he think I married him??!?!?

He must be like you though because I have noticed that he doesn't complain about getting up in that tree stand ... :censored:

What do you suppose the odds of this are?

EXTREMELY unlikely. Like 500,000 to 1 or more, would be my guess. Unless he had an incompetent trigger job done. But even given the AD/ND, unlikely in itself as it was, the chance of the bullet hitting him squarely like that after firing from the ground is very very low.

Still hunting from a tree stand - now that's something I'd like to see! Would take some serious skill! :D

This really a sad event. What do you suppose the odds of this are?

No way to calculate this, but whatever the odds were, they are still the same as before the accident. Not stating this statistical principle from a cold heart. Far from it. One should not say "that could never happen again" because it could, and the odds stay the same regardless of the number of occurrences until the situation changes. CB

This accident has me thinking of a way to secure a rifle while in the stand. I've had some problems with being sleepy in a stand before, got out of the tree a took a nap on the ground. Also use fall protection now. I mostly use double ladder stands now, but I'll be thinking of a rack of some sort to hold my rifle.
