May be excessive. I don't know. I do know that I wouldn't put up with that B.S. for 42 Grand per year. And, sure not for 35. You have to have a real job to hold one of these jobs.
After fighting with the legislature for a year we (retired firefighters) were able to talk them into a 4% raise. It’s not what we asked for, but we agreed to it. I retired from the dept in 2007 and haven’t had a pay raise since. BUT, for whatever reason, they swept the proposed legislation it was swept under the carpet in the basement and it never came to a vote. BUT they don’t seem to have any problems legislating themselves a pay raise.
So, when it’s time for re-election, I plan on placing my vote on someone who will take care of us.
