When I first went to Illinois, it was legal to drive down the road with a loaded .357 carried open or lying on the seat. I lived in west KY, and IL was 10 minutes across the river.
I intended to retire in southern Illinois.

Then the day came that the Chicago area had 55% of the state voting population, and the southern 2/3 of Illinois began to be treated as "occupied territory." Their votes did not matter anymore.
Most people from Oklahoma do not realize that the Illinois STATE firearms laws went from NORMAL to INSANE in less than one lifetime, because the "Chicago method" got into the majority. Scared the beejesus out of me that it got into the White House later.

Then there's New Hampshire ("Live Free or Die") which has a growing ultra-liberal population in the south part which is Massachusetts moving out of Boston to "get away from it all" but bringing it with them. Same with Maine, which is liberal in the SE and pure redneck in the other 3/4 of the state.

IT CAN HAPPEN HERE.

IT CAN HAPPEN IN THE WHOLE COUNTRY.

America is always only one generation away from losing all our freedoms, unless keeping our freedom is our top priority.

I agree things change. Who would have thought that Colorado would have passed the stuff they did?

It was kind of predicted in the past as California moved there.

Rod's remarks put it into perspective for all of us.

My early remarks were based off of current political attitudes here in Oklahoma. Certainly thing can and will/do change.
I wasn't discounting the need to be vigil, just that you'd think they'd put their money in a more possible state.

Rod is right. We must be vigilant in protecting our rights. But even as red as Oklahoma is HJR 1085 which could have protected us and the next generation looked like it was a done deal but didn't make it to the ballot after higher ed got involved. Hopefully next opportunity will have more support.

And now higher ed is crying for more funding. Maybe we should contact our legislators expressing our displeasure with higher eds request. Just saying :anyone: :)
