Sometimes homeschooling is the best and only option.

Honestly, It's all a 'it-depends' situation.

Homeschooling really is the best - providing the parents can support it. (Time/effort)

There is a point at which homeschool parents need to consider public schools for the benefits of the kid.
- For college entrance, it's slightly better to have a recognized diploma from a known high school.
- High schools provide AP classes that allow for additional points for grade. (Padding the GPA)
- High school allows for taking classes for college credit (read: saving money and time)

!!!!
- High schools are now allowing 'virtual/online' classes. This is a excellent blend of the benefits of homeschooling and the perks of High school.

Not trying to be mean - but sometimes I think public schooling is less about education - but rather - it's more about state funded childcare so parents can work (and pay taxes).

In my opinion, I think it's best to homeschool kids as long as you can - and only utilize public schooling at about grade 9 (beginning of high school).

...and it's even better if you utilize public schooling at grade 9 - using the virtual classes. Best of both worlds.

Of course, everything is a balance.
Each parent needs to weigh pro/cons/limitations of their situation and make the best decision for themselves.

Virtual classes may greatly change the education landscape, ...for public education - and college.

Perhaps there is a good side to this. Virtually uneducated children whom have been indoctrinated in socialism trying to pass on this poisonous legacy to other children will be far less effective at indoctrinating the next wave than dedicated, hard corps, formally educated, Marxist Ideologues…..
