That's very interesting. My wife and I don't smoke, drink, gamble. Raised our kids in church and Scouts and led by example.

I go visit my oldest son's grave every weekend. He did drugs, got hooked, spiraled right down and was gone at age 24. He was the apple of my eye.

I guess if you do stuff right, and you get lucky - it's easy to give yourself credit for your kids choices. If you see other kids doing bad stuff, it must be very gratifying to smugly blame the parents.
I’m genuinely very sorry for your loss. A parent should never have to outlive their children. There certainly are exceptions however the overwhelming majority of good responsible children come from good responsible parents and vise versa. My wife is a special ed (behavior specialist) teacher and over decades of involvement with her classes I can tell you for a fact that is the case.

I am truly saddened by this.....I can only imagine your pain.

Pretty darn easy even when fully illegal.

Adults:

1) Paranoia
2) Malformed Sperm
3) Psychological Addiction

Children

1) Neurological Developmental Issues
2) Psychological Addiction

Alcohol has issues in large quantities as well, but so does food. When it comes to poison, it is usually about the dose.

Read the side effects on bottles of over the counter meds lately? Read the side effects of prescription meds?

I would agree with keeping drugs/alcohol away from kids. As for adults they should be "smart" enough to figure out if they will or do have a problem.
I agree except all the issues blasted everywhere with herion, meth, crack, xanax, etc has yet to stop anyone from “figuring out” that they’ll have a problem lol. The problem with mj is that no one really knows what the consequences of recreational use are…what we do know is, it is addictive, it’s not good for your health (how bad has yet to be figured out) and leads to an increase in dui incidents (so similar to alcohol). With out really studying the effects we’ll always have one side saying it’s the worst thing ever and the other saying it’s a natural thing with magical healing powers.

What "harm" would come to the adults/kids of MJ consumption? Serious question.
I wish I could let you talk to my friend from high school. He was a very intelligent individual and he never got off of it. It’s almost impossible to have an intelligent conversation with him now. What a waste.

I've said it before, but respect to you and yours for getting up every day. I think the only reason I'd try is for the other son. Absent that, I'm not sure.

I see kids from good families that just inexplicably can't shake their demons. It's terrifying to me.

I'm in my fourth decade as an educator and do not know of a single student that has struggled academically or socially because they consumed too much sugar, caffeine, or nicotine. But I do know those that struggle with these after becoming a marijuana/THC user.

I've never called an ambulance or had a parent take their child to the hospital because they drank too much soda, smoked a cigarette, took a pinch of snuff, or vaped some nicotine. But I have for students that took a single hit from a THC DAB/Vape or consumed gummies because a "friend" said "try this." I've never seen the former lead a student down a road with no positive end or destroy their educational opportunities, but I have with kids using marijuana.

I was indifferent to the passage of medical MJ, but knowing what I know now I would have strongly opposed it. I don't care to tell responsible adults what to do with their time and money. But there are NO positive outcomes for kids from the normalization and use of marijuana.
Hard to argue facts and statistics… I agree
