what a bigot, what a pedophobe.

I don't believe in the death penalty, but we have inmates for that.

It's all good. I came to terms with all my labels a LONG time ago. True story: I used to think the death penalty was a cruel and unusual punishment. Then I went to work for an attorney who worked some of the automatic appeals inmates sentenced to the death penalty get. I now wonder why we don't just take them out to the courthouse steps and put a bullet in their heads about one minute after sentence is passed.

I'm aware. Doesn't change my opinion. EVERYBODY in jail, regardless of the charges or evidence, is innocent, haven't you heard? When cops and lawyers started keeping scorecards and stopped caring about truth the system was corrupt. So, basically since it's inception.
I didn't say otherwise; I merely answered your suggestion, which was "why we don't just take them out to the courthouse steps and put a bullet in their heads about one minute after sentence is passed [emphasis added]."

Isn't the appeals rate in the US about 1%? 1 in 100 being wrongfully convicted is awful. I could live with 1 in 1,000, but 1 in 100 is too much.

That being said, once the appeals are done...

Everyone in Oklahoma who receives a death sentence gets an appeal whether they want, or afford, one or not. It buys them at least 10 more years to live on our dime. It's probably a good thing I don't rule the world. There's an awful lot of BS that goes on now that wouldn't happen. Caligula would be proud! Lol

Judge to offending molester/pedophile:

"I hereby sentence you to walking around Arizona and Utah in the dark of night."

(Lots of sudden drop-off places around here. Grand Canyon, Marble Canyon, Vermillion Cliffs, Horseshoe Bend, Angel's Landing in Zion National Park, and also Bryce Canyon.)

These guys, and I've read the book, as well as knowing some of the guys that were questioned for evidence tells me that the county prosecutors can ruin your life, innocent or guilty. Be careful out there. Even if not guilty, and the elected prosecutor gets back in office and wants to falsely charge you with a crime to show he is heavy on crime, will do so to get elected again.

Agreed... when I read that book, I was shocked to see names and stories of people I knew, and some I thought I respected. Always knew Ada was a messed up place in a lot of ways, but damn.
