No way a landowner can know everything that hunters are doing without being with them constantly.
I’m going to have to disagree with this one.

I don’t lease my land but I do let people hunt it for ducks/geese, not that I’ve got a waterfowl mecca. I know when they are in and who’s there, it’s my land and I know no one takes care of it like I do or the way I’d want it taken care of.

I used to let a guy deer hunt it and when he started bringing a buddy, both of them got told quick and fast don’t bother coming back.

I know everyone can’t watch their land close, maybe they live a ways off or whatever, but there’s ways to know what going on.

I am 15 miles from my acreage. Checking cows, I found piles of sunflower 🌻 seeds, just before dove season. A call to GW alerted them I was not involved and trespassing would be filed.

I found more evidence during season, but GW didn't catch anybody until the last weekend. They were hanging a feeder.

I was always open to hunters and not leasing. No more. No access, unless I invite and hunt with them.
Tractor shot, mower shot, barn shot, water trough shot, and a goat. There are some honest, ethical, good people, but it doesn't take many entitled ******** to ruin it for everyone.

No it won't. An intelligently worded contract to lease, and an intelligently crafted bill to address this issue isn't that complicated.

Perhaps a bill that would also address "guides" letting multiple clients take deer week after week could be addressed also.

We passed a high fence place in Texas last week and I saw some African game there. Wife looked up the ranch, read me the details as I drove. It's sickening to be counted in the same group that go shoot "fish in a barrel" and soil the term "hunter".

Very little disgusts me more than unethical hunters and sportsmen. (note I said unethical, not illegal) These clowns do more to put our lifestyle at risk than DC politicians do.

Yep, cause writing a law is always 100% effective.

I disagree with charging landowners for someone else’s illegal activity. A lot of my permissions come from the ag lessee, not the landowners themselves. Fining a landowner because the person he leases his ag to gave a guide permission to shoot the birds off his livelihood doesn’t seem equitable. I’d be fine with permanent revocation of all guiding and hunting privileges. Or just about any other penalty. But punishing someone who didn’t break the law doesn’t sit right with me.

I would have a huge problem with someone leasing for ag giving blanket permission to someone else to conduct business on my property. In that case, the lessee should be on the hook for whatever illegal activity goes on.
