Do what you are comfortable with but be consistent one way or another. Not everyone is billy badass like all you guys. :wink2:

As for cleaning guns, every once in a while we read a newspaper article about "one in the chamber". Be safe, comfortable, and consistent.

There isn't a "one size fits all" answer. You have to carry the way you are comfortable carrying. I am in the carry chambered club, but I don't really have much of an issue with those who don't. Yes, there are situations where every second counts...but I also believe the far more likely scenario is that there is ample time to rack the slide. However, statistics do show that the avg gun fight last somewhere in the range of 5 seconds.

Just don't let anyone pressure you into carrying in a manner that you are not comfortable with.

Having to rack the slide will draw extra attention to yourself from the noise.

Just running scenarios in my mind, I can't think of a single 1 where that's a positive.

For example, in a restaurant where armed bad guys come in to rob it, do you really want to have to decide between drawing their attention to you prematurely or risk having a gun you cant use if they turn towards you? Personally, I would rather be able to draw silently and be ready to defend myself and family.

My wife hates me carrying in condition 1. So I usually have to do it in secret to keep her from pitching a fit. Sometimes I'll forget and have to go around without one chambered until she goes into a store or something.

I know, I know, me a man and tell her the STFU but I've had this argument more times than I can count and women are not logical beings.

Always one in the pipe, I like that my FNS-9 has a safety on it for when I first started carrying it but now once the gun is in the holster the safety goes off so I don't put myself behind the curve.
