I did this last year and seemed to work out well. Never had a bill over $75 if I recall. But I have not researched Nat Gas prices for the time period yet. Anyone else doing it? Entry expires 15th of this month. I guess it all depends on NG prices. Will they pass the rate which ONG has listed for this year? $4.175. Any comments?
Scroll down about half way to see the program.

*The Temperature Adjustment Clause is a means of adjusting the cost of natural gas service portion of your bill to reflect normal weather conditions from November through April each year if necessary

I would ask what this means specifically…looks like a cop out to raise the price of gas if a situation like Uri happens again

My level-pay gas bill is getting cheaper. went from $40/mo down to $34/mo this year for my 1500 sq foot furnace/gas water/cooktop home. Mainly due to the rate refund issued because of our extremely mild winter last year. Not ONG though. Utilities only change their price twice a year. Once in fall, once in spring. I imagine the lock-in price is for the season, but they'll get their money in the long run if it's higher than agreed, and keep the difference if it's lower. ONG and OneOK is notorious for begging the corp commission when net profits take a hit.

Always remember. Any "payment program" created by the providing company will NEVER lose them money. It's formulated in such a way that it will ALWAYS make the company a profit in the long run. And if it doesn't, the program will quietly disappear.

I don't join any of those programs. I figure it's going to cost me more over time than just paying a monthly bill.

Silly me. Not being least bit familiar with my gas bill. I looked at it and the 'fuel charge' portion was only $5.03. And the program only applies to fuel. Not to any other portion of the gas bill. Gas would really have to bloom in order to lock in at the current program price of $4.175 and be feasible.

Yep. Most people have no clue how little they pay for the fuel itself. If you have a huge mansion with inground outdoor pool, hot tub and spa and you heat it year round it might be worth looking into. Otherwise it's a nothing burger.

Industrial customers, if they use enough can get different payment options, but their usage is ginormous compared to the typical household customer.

The cost / Dekatherm history is at a link at the bottom of the webpage. I did not save much money for 2023, but most of my gas usage for the 2024 period was between Nov 23 and April 24 so there were some savings for me this year.
