When did he have time to hit the record button with a gun pointed at him?

The cities need to do a better job of educating their police force of their laws. I think most people still have the mentality that when they see someone with a gun (not in uniform) they are bad.

That is spot on. Funny story from the weekend. I was at Bass Pro helping a friend staff their booth. One of the other folks in the booth came in carrying an AR15, off duty LEO, badge and sidearm under his vest. AR had a trigger lock on it. When he got to the booth a lady rushed up to him and started exclaiming how she almost tackled him in the parking lot when she saw a guy carrying a black gun. She was so relieved that he wasn't someone evil planning to shoot people in Bass Pro. Then she made the mistake of asking if we thought she was justified in her concerns.....

Yeah, I saw this on another forum and listened to the audio up to about 3min before I had to stop. I have had LE contact while open-carrying in ABQ back in the 90s. Since OC was the only option at that time, I never got this kind of treatment. Video would have been nice. I hope that his life will not be ruined by the BS charges the DA has decided to pursue. Even more, I hope he can get a good lawyer to burn the officers and the city for violating his rights.

Gee, I suppose a citizen needs to be careful about exercising his or her lawful rights...

the city should reprimand the officer, make a public apology, and make it known that this is not how the city treats average citizens.
in hopes to restore some faith in the local police. but to turn around and have another branch of the justice system just smack him in the nuts?:nutkick:

its just backward. is this what we teach out kids? wrong some one then turn around and F*&^ the over because you can?
this is straight up judicial bullying.:soapbox:

This is why rules are needed for open carry.
Example: a rifle can be carried slung unless embarking or disembarking from a vehicle,
pistol must be carried in holster that covers the trigger guard, etc etc.
Maybe if that lady had a gun and knew how to use it she would not be so freaked out if she saw someone else with one.
