Went to our "work location" today and picked up a van to do a short assignment in Texas for the company to use to create a bid to that state for their road surveys. Being retired, we can be very flexible and generally are free to drop everything and go on assignment. After this one, the "boss" thinks our assignment to Alabama is about two weeks away.
Will be good to get out on the road again and see some new country.
I haven't been back there since 2018, but it was bad back then. Texas is a beautiful place full of some awesome people. Then there is AustinUpdate: Made it to Austin. Left the hotel to go to Walmart and buy some TV dinners for suppers while we are here. Driving back to the hotel, I was astounded by the number of homeless "encampments" along a 4 mile stretch of street. Seems that Austin decided in 2019 to lift all bans on panhandling and "camping."
We are heading down there the second weekend of May for a convention. It was bad 5 or 6 years ago when I was there. I can't imagine how it is today. Thanks for the heads up. lol
