We lost power about 1am, still out. Have 10-12 inch limbs off of a maple tree down. Luckily the wind was out of the right direction and they ended up in front of the house and not on it. Every limb that broke off was directly over my roof.
Power company says they have several poles down. May have to fire up genny in a bit, was gonna give them till noon. Don't know if it's just me or is our electrical grid in deterioration. Seems like the power outages are getting more common and for longer periods. This is coming from someone who is use to outages everytime the wind blows with our rural electric co op. Heck Friday was up at Arnett and Shattuck and all power was out. Their facebook Page Friday evening said would be restored maybe Saturday.

Yep we lost power around 4am. I waited until 8 am to drag out/hook up the generator. It came back on just as I finished getting it all hooked up and going. Of course. I’m with you on the trees. I had 4-60’ trees towering over the house. The last ice storm did a job (limbs down mostly) on them and luckily no direct hits to the house. Since the city was now going to do ice storm damage pickup I decided to take all 4 down and add to the cleanup. I’m thankful I did that every time we have one of these storms. We miss the shade but sleep better now.

Yea, I need to take this maple down but it shades the house from evening sun. Told the wife this morning I guess I was gonna have to just take it out. Already punched one hole in the roof a few years ago during a ice storm. It is going to be a chore, that maple is 65-75 ft tall and the trunk is 4ft across. Looks like I will be running a chainsaw for days when I start on it.

Damn dude. Reading this made me break out in a cold sweat! I'm SO glad those branches (or the whole damned tree) didn't wind up on your house. Hope your power is on sooner rather than later. Stay safe, sir!

There is NO amount of shade that will make you guys feel better if something goes wrong and that tree kills someone you love. Or even someone you don't.

I hate to be the Debby Downer of OSA when it comes to nice shade trees but I know firsthand just how not-worth-it they are.

Eta: Sorry for the lecture. Guess all these trees losing branches "triggered" me ... 😬🤷😂😂😂😂😘

I saw several Northfork bucket trucks in town a few minutes ago, hopefully you get power back soon. All of town went out earlier, not sure if its back on yet or not.

We're sitting at hospital now, one of our nephews had seizure an hour or so ago. Not sure what caused it yet, no history at age 13.
Sorry to hear that Clint, hope they find the cause. At least the Hospital has backup generator being town is out.
Pray your nephew will be ok.🙏
