Good evening gang,

I made it down to Dallas earlier this afternoon. Just hanging out in the hotel room now waiting for room service to come. Will be here working until about 1am Sunday morning then going to grab a few hours of sleep then drive back home Sunday morning. I have a half day of work on Sunday then going to visit mom.

Update on my mom. Her insurance approved the Rehab facility today in Edmond. My brother will go up tomorrow morning and transport her down to the City. We are excited that she will only be about 15 minutes from any of us to visit. She should only be there maximum 3 weeks, then back to her house with Home care.

Hope you all had a great Friday!

Right, Dennis -- just rub it in! 🙄😉😂

Dancer -- that is GREAT news!!

We have had a fairly uneventful day. I felt pretty decent -- for a while. Got Grumpy's oil change ( quarterly check with the doc) done and out of the way. She's tickled with his A1C and so am I. He's doing better and that's all that matters.

I stopped by an old job (JoAnn's) to get some elastic and check up on everybody. One of the girls' boyfriend (long term relationship, they had 2 kids together) was killed and the police are saying it wasn't an accident. She is, understandably, beside herself. I cannot imagine. Y'all look at your loved ones tonight just a little bit longer -- and hold them a little bit tighter -- than usual tonight. She says the hardest thing so far is he isn't calling her 100 times a day. I fuss about Grumpy but I'm not sure how I'd handle getting a phone call saying he wasn't gonna come home. 😢 These things always happen to OTHER people. Not people we know or family, ya know?? This one is a little too close to home. She is not even 30 yet and someone she has known and loved more than half her life is not coming over ever again. 😢😢

My 54 year old body felt better yesterday morning than it has in years, but whatever improvements the doctor made, I must’ve undid them all yesterday. I pretty well knew when I was doing it that loading a ton of feed and corn in my truck and dumping it in feeders was a bad idea, but it had to be done. I’m also fairly sure the couple hours on the ZTR didn’t help either, but again, it had to be done.

My youngest son and daughter in law got here about midnight, so whatever else needs doing today, I will at least have help.

It looks like it’s going to be another hot one today, so y’all stay hydrated and have a great day! :thumb:

I’m right there with you @retrieverman on the aches and pains. I’ve been making some repairs to my storage buildings for the last couple of weeks, and it has been slowly catching up with me. I still have more to do, but I’ve decided to let my body rest this weekend. My age slapped me in the face yesterday, and told me that I can’t do much more without resting up a bit.

We need rain around here in a bad way. I’m seeing exposed rocks and brush in the local lake that I have never seen before in my life. We have a chance this coming mid week, but we need a lot more. Things are getting bad.

I HAVE A TOMATO ON MY PLANT!! 😂😂😂😂 OMG!! I'm gonna DIE if I actually get some fresh tomatoes off that thing in November!! 😍😱
Wife picked about dozen yesterday although small but ripe. I had gave up on them and forfeited them to the grasshoppers that completely devoured the leaves off. Still have green ones growing.

Check one more off the imaginary bucket list - just killed a opposum with a softball bat! Boy went out to feed outside dogs and spotted it about 7' in the air on a gate setting. It was a younger one, and just sat there when we walked up to it. In my best Sling Blade voice, "I hit him two good whacks with it". Honestly one of the easiest possum's I've ever killed, and I killed quite a few in my trapping days! It was about 25 yards from the nearest chicken pen, so I knew what was probably coming later tonight, told the boy he made a good spot this time!
