The two original guns were sent to Nevada for test firing a nuclear warhead in 1953. According to the attached article a total of twenty "Atomic Annie's" were built but only four now remain in various museums (one being at Ft. Sill).

Here is a link to the write-up and pictures of that car at Oklahoma Railway Museum's website. It has now been repainted with MKT colors. I'm glad I got pictures before they repainted.

Something unusual in the way of rail cars. Back in 2014, we went to the Oklahoma Railway Museum in Oklahoma City and stumbled across a car marked with U.S. Army letters and emblem. I don't remember any plaque or informational stuff that stated how the car was used. The one end has windows on all three sides.

Maybe I need to get back out there to see what may be new and maybe try to find out how they did use this car?
The crossed canons could be a clue? Is that for a artillery unit?

Smith Falls in Smith Falls State Park in Nebraska. We stopped off there on our way back from a trip to South Dakota.

Amazing things, and people, can be found in every state if we have the time to get off the interstate, and look! Anyone remember on the road with Charles Kuralt? That was my favorite TV program to this day.

I knew my wife had plans to put up the Christmas tree today, and she texted me a little while ago that she‘s having a problem.🤣

Yes.

Following up on the story of the rail car linked above and the thought that the rail car might have been used to inspect the railroad tracks from Fort Sill to Nevada for transporting the "atomic" cannons (two of them), the link below tells the story of the two cannons and how they got mixed up as to which one was "Atomic Annie" (previously named "Able Annie") and which one was named "Sad Sack."

Back a few years, we made a trip to Pahrump, NV to meet and visit with some online friends in the RV lifestyle. While there wasn't much in the way of beautiful scenery, we did get to see Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. I had seen online photos of that particular "Red Rock Canyon," I hadn't really researched where it was. In an effort (successful) to avoid going back to Utah through Las Vegas, we took a highway that took us right through the area.

It's kind of a beautiful formation amongst a lot of boring countryside.
