Those guy's lives are on the line every second of every day. They never know when something routine and 'innocent' is going to become life threatening. Then, when they retire they become a security guard for some school board somewhere and some psycho comes to a meeting and turns it into a shooting gallery.
Then, again, a woman comes to the rescue.

Critics may never have wrestled with nutcases. They can be scary strong. And, the officer probably started out careful not to hurt a probably brittle old guy. Once momentum is lost, things can go to hell in a hurry.

I think this turned out better than it had any right to. As far as the rescuer being female, I don't see why that's particularly newsworthy. I do recall from my distant past that the only person who ever whipped me in a stand up fight was a pretty farm girl who I had insulted. She hit harder than anyone I ever had a confrontation with. Let this be a lesson ... anyone can be taken by surprise ...

And no, women are not the "new" men ... just like men, there are some women who can step up to the plate and some who cannot. This officer got lucky.

I can only pray that should anyone, LEO or not, find themselves in such a predicament that there is SOMEONE there ready to help them out instead of standing there cheering, videoing for a youtube.com post up later ...

There really never should be anything "careful" about taking somebody down. Officers are trained to go home at the end of their shift. If someone wants to fight, it's time to whoop some ass.
