Passerby saves Dayton police officer

It kind of seems like the Officer is missing some much needed tactics that could have quickly put him back into control of the situation. I know its easy to sit here and judge, it just seems like he was not behaving like he had any training for this type of situation. It looked like he needed to make a foot sweep or spin him off the car and to the ground. Of course wrestling on the ground can be even more dangerous.

Im glad he is ok and finally got the upper hand. Kudos to the vigilanty lady for helping out.

I would imagine when the guy is going for your gun, your defending the gun more than fighting, or defending your body. The guy has had two priors for assaulting cops, so he's probably aware of a lot of the control tactics as well. If you watch the takedown, thats actually both cops, one cop swung his hip, and took both the guy, and the other cop completely off the ground. I think the guy was probably high and had retard strength at that point.

The backup officers would have pulled BB off the perp, not the perp off the other officer.

Those guy's lives are on the line every second of every day. They never know when something routine and 'innocent' is going to become life threatening. Then, when they retire they become a security guard for some school board somewhere and some psycho comes to a meeting and turns it into a shooting gallery.
