You will have time to put them in at each station, then take them out for the jaunt through the woods and down the road. I hate running with ear pro in or on.

I use 3M E-A-R plugs. Easy in, easy out -- no need to crush them to insert and wait for them to swell -- and they are comfortable. However, you have to be careful with corded plugs like that if/when you un-sling your rifle -- especially with a tactical 2-point sling like I usually use. The sling can catch on the cord, pull your plugs off, and possibly make you lose them. I may try these plugs without the cord next time.

I like hensch's 3M E-A-R idea, but I've always done like TK and run with soft plugs in place for the duration. It's kind of weird at first, but I find there's generally enough other physical misery involved that I don't even notice the plugs!
