I grew up on Greenwood Dr, just 3 blocks away from HPM. My friend Chad has worked at Pelicans for about 20 yrs. he's one of their cooks, but usually only works Friday nights now. Good food!!!

Grew up on Pelicans. Still go every now and then. Great place. Time to get back. Thanks.

And yeah. OKC is growing, and the former suburbs are now the outer-inner city.

Pelicans and the area where great in the late 90's when i was stationed at Tinker the first time. Come back a decade later and all the "nice" stuff is 20 feet from the base and the ghetto grew out its hind end. Don't get me wrong there are still highlights in the area- Mr Spriggs BBQ, Chequers, Pelicans, akropolis, taste of thai. But all the stores that made it nice and prosperous shut down, moved, got over run etc. I won't say its got an "inner city" feel to it but more of an industrial complex feel. or like upper Michigan when the industry fell out.
