If you live in Mustang near 59th and Morgan Rd you are no doubt familiar with the last 600+ housing development that was proposed then passed by our lovely city council over the objections of the public.
Residents in the area have received a letter from Williams, Box, Forshee & Bullard, P.C inviting residents to discuss the proposed rezoning application for The Vineyard.

The meeting will be held at the Mustang Community Center, 1201 N. Mustang Rd, Mustang on December 11th, 2024 from 6:00 - 7:00PM
A bit of history on the last proposal from the developer who went bankrupt is in order. The plan called for a mix of duplexes (senior housing), single family houses and multi-family which got axed at the city council thankfully. The new plan goes looks just like the plan before it was put on hold with the duplexes.
Arguments against:
This will greatly increase the traffic in the area by at least 800+ vehicles with only two exists from the area - one on Morgan and one on 59th. If you have driven this area during school time you know what a mess it is now let alone by tossing in another 800+ vehicles. It will also require that at least Morgan Road will have to be widened to accommodate the increase in vehicle traffic if not both Morgan and 59th. Road construction will take more than a year to get done if that quick.
Construction equipment will damage roads that are already in somewhat bad shape.
We don't need any more senior housing as there is plenty being built on 59th near the elementary school.
Arguments for:
More tax revenue for the county via property taxes. City may see more tax revenue from sales taxes.
In conclusion, I strongly urge you to contact your city council member and mayor if you live or travel in this area and express your opinions on this development. This is all about $$$$ and the developer does not or will ever live in the area or have to put up with all the construction mess and traffic that this will cause for years to come.
