I know selective coloring is lame, but I really like it with roses. 
well i don't have a BADASS camera like everyone that has posted pictures here. All i have is a canon powershot SX20IS aka a advanced point and shoot. At first my wife and i really weren't sure if we wanted to get into photography so we started out with this point and shoot. But now we are both in love and most likely hooked and very soon we will be buying a nicer SLR. This little point and shoot does have a lot of features i didn't think it would have like the option to change the fstp and shutter speed. To be honest we really don't know how to use it or what those do. But here are some pics we took today messing around with the shutter speed and Fstop I really have no idea what i'm doing lol.

My wife and I would always fight over who took what shot. Naturally, I was always right. 
However, in order to ensure that I knew who took the shot I had to get another camera. Got the Nikon D90 Great camera. The D80 stays the wifes. MUHAAAH
As a concession, I did pick her up a new lens for Valentines day. A Nikkor Macro 105mm F2.5. Niice lens.
Neg, your shots look great. Composition is very good. I like the fence shots. Lots of depth. Although, I think you are right an SLR may improve the low light function and noise.
Love the D90!! It's an amazing camera.
