Owned explosives
Owned rifles
Owned muskets

The bottom line is that in 1776 when the 2A restriction was codified to restrict the government, citizens owned everything that the military had. Everything.

The important thing to remember is that the 2A places no restrictions on citizens. It only codifies that the government shall not do that which it has no power or authority to do.

The entire constitution and BOR is a list of restrictions upon govt. Why some people think that somehow the 2A is the only exception to this fact and is instead a restriction upon the people is beyond me.
