The problem is that they (contractors) do not have accountability to the public and the only way they can be used in government service - not just policing but really any government task - is with very close oversight and tightly tailored limits to their activities.

He was stopped because he had no tag on his car.Timothy McVeigh was stopped for a minor traffic violation. There are plenty of felons the get caught for things such as a cracked windshield.
Are they special? When they screw up they should be treated no different and should called on it. Its a badge not a crown!
