Do you believe political correctness is a legitimate attempt to right past wrongs and insensitivities? Or do you believe it is a method of stifling honest debate and emasculating American values?

Some of each. We are in a horrible mess brought on, in part by extreme views on the part of our left and our right. I used the term "compromise" on this forum a few years back, and was promptly informed that compromise with the other party was the same thing as treason.

I haven't read this entire thread, and if I have repeated what someone else has said it wasn't planned. Framing this question with only a yes/no sort of adds to the polarization problem.

Still waiting for April 1 to see if the fade to red was for real.

It is actually worse than just neutering debate. PC actually makes whatever it is trying to fix, worse. It continually points out and exacerbates whatever it is trying to remedy.
