I am willing to wager that they will blame "ghost guns" on the shooting part of the attack.
Actually it was a Glock purchased from a pawn shop according to the news.
If this guy had pages upon pages of breaking the law, some of which were felonies, the pawn shop may have future issues. I didn’t see how many felonies if he had any at all prior to the gun purchase just listened to the media say there were a laundry list of crimes he had been arrested for.
Maybe he had a good lawyer that got him off? Don’t know

Something that I REALLY don't understand...

I use the word "ugly" in a Facebook post as the punchline of an OLD joke and I got notice from Facebook that my account was going to be inactivated due to "offensive speech".

This guy has HUNDREDS of videos and postings on Facebook and YouTube and NOTHING!!!

Seriously, HOW did this guy slide under the radar????

I've seen a few of the posts and transcripts of his stuff that the media has put out and, again, HOW did this guy stay under the radar????
Yours probably has a slight bend to the right and was reported. He is protected with likes and retwaats.

Surprise, surprise... if there is no registry how did the AFT and FIB get the info on the gun so fast? This purchase was 10 years or so ago...

He might have told them like he told NYPD where to find him. I’m sure the government has records of all handgun purchases as well even though they lie to us and say there is no national registry. Multiple felony arrests and no convictions is the real problem here. We don’t need more gun control, we need the courts to put criminals in jail and keep them there.

Keep them there? Explain to us how that helps exactly when our recidivism in this nation is above 60%?

We as a nation need to address the problem with incarceration. We have more of our population at some stage of judicial punishment than any other nation on this planet.

What we have been doing just isn't working anymore, and the reason it doesn't is that we give absolutely no incentive once they get out...we deem those that are released less that and view them as a criminal for all time.

This guy....he has mental health issues, it is obvious, but rather than acknowledge that and all the others, it is lock them up....forever and to hell with the cost.

My son in 13yo now, and in his school CAPPS middle school, there is so many kids doing weed, vapes, starting fights because of what you suggest....lock the parents up.

Something has to change....it just does.

If they commit a felony and are convicted they should be sentenced to jail and serve that sentence. Leniency in the courts has resulted in violent offenders on the street harming innocent people. Yes, society and school systems have become weak and tolerates punk kids doing stupid stuff they should be held accountable for. We are too concerned with their feelings. The only feeling I got was the sting of a paddle on my backside when I did stupid stuff.

But this subway shooter will be just like the Sacramento,CA shooters of weeks past. Because of their race nothing but silence and within a week no mention of them at all. But if it was a white person wearing a maga hat or a nra hat or a nascar cat jacket all hell would break loose for weeks on end. The coverage would be as bad as the media coverage of the chinese flu was
The mass media, has enormous power! Far more than we realize I suspect! Just one example is, Nazi Germany! The Nazi Party was only in power from 1933 until May of 1945! Less than 12 years, all the propaganda tools thay had was radio, movies, news papers, and live speeches! They were able to turn not only all of Germany, but most of Europe, parts of North, and, South America, including many in the U.S. from decent, intelligent, honorable, human beings, into sub human BUTCHERS, that participated in, or at the very least looked the other way , while MASS GENOCIDE OF MANY TENS OF MILLIONS OCCURED! propaganda did this in a the first 3, or 4, years of the Nazi reign! NOW CONSIDER WHAT COULD BE DONE WITH THE PROPAGANDA TOOLS WE HAVE NOW! TALK ABOUT SCARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BUT LIKE THE GERMAN PEOPLE SAID IN 1933, IT CAN'T HAPPEN NOW, NOT IN THESE MODERN TIMES, CAN IT? LOOK AT UKRAINE! Then look at what happened in Lous, Vietnam, and Cambodia, at the end of the Vietnam War! MANY TENS, IF NOT HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS WERE SYSTEMATICALLY MURDERED, FOR SEVERAL YEARS, TO GET RID OF ANYONE THAT COULD POTENTALLY BE A PROBLEM TO THE COMMUNIST LEADERSHIP, AND OUR POLITICIANS, AND THEIR LAP DOG NEWS MEDIA, AT THE DIRECTION OF THE HOLLYWOOD CROWD, LOOKED THE OTHER WAY, AND TOLD US PIONS TO PRETENDED THIS WAS NOT HAPPENING, REMEMBER??

Mental health issues does not equal mentally incompetent to stand trial for one's crimes. If you think it needs changed, then start a mission. IMO, the change needs to be jail diversion programs for NON-VIOLENT offenders. Then make every person convicted of a violent felony serve at least 85% of their sentence behind bars. No ifs, ands or buts, you hurt someone, then you go to jail and stay there.
