Practical shooting ranges in/around Tulsa?

It's down to just over a year and half last I checked. I quit getting guys on the standby list because they never would follow through when their name/time came up.
A friend just became a member about a month ago.
Costly to buy memebership but convenience is awesome.

Well that’s great if folks will wait…I won’t no matter how convenient along with the fees for such limited shooting disciplines. And I have no doubt that people wouldn’t respond back after that timeframe, heck people these days can’t remember what they did 3 days ago. Thanks for the info but I’m a member at both Snake Creek and Recon by fire.

Also the ranges at WMAs if you have a hunting license. Not the greatest, but an option.

That may be the way I go.

I’ll live close to the indoor range so it’ll be a convenient place to join anyhow. I was a member around the time they built it, and I recall that it was a nice little range.


Like the Wagoner range?

I’ve read enough news stories about dudes getting mugged for their guns out there that I don’t care to risk it

There are more DWC planned around the Tulsa area but right now the closest are Okmulgee and Kaw Lake. The Wagoner location is barely what I'd call a range.

Get back on the list at Oil Cap and Red Castle.

Man, it's downright depressing seeing what USSA has become after what it once was. And I think they stopped matches altogether there. They sold off the 360 rifle bay to the county sheriff I think, and the owners have really pizzed a lot of people off. They are Or were, maybe it's changed hands again. Dunno, I quit too.

Oil cap wait list maybe full most of the time, but it moves quickly if you wait as members die ,move or stop shooting. My partner in crime got in after less than 6 month

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it, but Longshot Ranch was fun. It's in Skiatook, out towards the lake.

Red Castle had so many old guys croak I don't think there's much of a wait.
There's some kind of pistol group meets Thursday early early on what used to be the junior/ action pistol range. Heard it was Old farts, but they were all gone by the time I took a break from the high-power range.

I’m gonna live in Oklahoma again. Glad to be coming back. But where do I practice USPSA/IDPA-type shooting?

Oil Capital was always on a waitlist, and still is. I was a Red Castle member years ago but they’re on a waitlist now. Alpha Training Academy in Pryor appears to have closed.

USSA…has lost my business. I was a member there for a long time (through 3 different owners) but I no longer care to give them my money considering recent events.

So where do people go now?

you won’t find that freedom at any range in OK .

That would be incorrect. The Ponca City Range allows drawing, setting up any target array you want as long as you clean up after, full auto, and so on. As long as it's safe, with bullets hitting the backstops from 2-7' it's allowed. The only restrictions are no tracers.
