I didn't realize the ability to 3D print functional parts from metals such as aluminum, titanium, steel, and cobalt chrome was old tech. Please tell us how long that has been done.

The fact you feel so compelled to press your argument is confusing. If I'm wrong, why aren't manufacturers busy tossing out all their expensive, greasy machine tools and buying clean quiet 3D printers?
