Question-->Titegroup

I am looking in to powder for 9 mm.....147gn from Summit City Bullets. My Hornady load data does not include Titegroup. 115 and under it is suggested...

I have read other forums and many responses said to stay away from Titegroup PERIOD....

Can I get some information about on the Titegroup from your experience??

Hornady has data online for their jacketed bullet, XTP. The starting point will work with your bullet.

Titegroup works. I’ve loaded a bunch of it. I’ve moved to a Sport Pistol in that application. Formulated for coated bullets, but very similar to TiteGroup.

Hodgdon website lists a 145 lead and a 147 xtp.

I use CFE Pistol which fills the case a little more.
Powder Valley had it last week but of course it’s sold out now.

I've been having very good results with CFE Pistol as well. Village Tactical had some in when I last visited. Might be worth checking them out. They were about $9 a pound cheaper than H&H last month.

My load for 124grn 9mm is 4.1 grns Titegroup.
It is a good powder for 9mm far as I'm concerned. Have been using it several years.
To keep from having different loads for every pistol I experiment with several powders at different charges for all my pistols. Titegroup gave me the most consistent accuracy across the board with the load stated above.

It was my primary 9 and 40 powder. Just make sure to eyeball each charged case and preferably have a powder check device

It’s stable, consistent, meters easy, makes accurate loads with a wide “sweet spot”. The biggest drawback is that it burns hot. For heavy 9mm loads I prefer WST. It’s peaky and you have to get it right, but it’s economical, burns really cool which is great for suppressors and the residue pretty much just wipes off when you’re done.

I used titegroup when I shot IDPA in Texas a few years ago. It worked good for 40 S&W & 9mm but...it burns hot, when you have longer strings of fire like 15-20 rounds the gun gets hot. I mean real hot, hot enough that a few times I was worried about melting a fiber optic front sight or damaging a kydex holster. Secondly because the powder charge is relatively small it would be very easy to double charge a case. so make sure you have a solid loading procedure, and double check everything...twice.

I have about 3 lbs unopened setting in my inventory and have not loaded any in 4-5 years. I am loading HS-6 and CFE pistol for 9mm, both have a softer recoil, way less temp problems, wide range of loading options, and are lofty (fluffy?) powders so it is almost impossible to double charge a case.
