Possibly!!?? Just reacting to what I saw as of 12:00PM today
Because people coming to the forum and asking baited questions about selling firearms in their first posts and qualifying it with statements like they bought it in Dec 2012 and now with all of the negative attention, they want to sell it is suspect of being a troll and at the least someone who was influenced by those who would work to take away our rights. That's why.
If she doesn't feel she's capable of handling this, then she should seek a dealer for assistance. Period.
Huh??? What is a troll? And what was wrong w/ my post? What do you mean by baited? I'm sorry if I did something wrong. I just searched for OK gun forum sites & found this site & thought it may be a good place to find an answer to my question. I mentioned what kind of gun it was because I thought it might make a difference on how I could sell it - like pistols would qualify for a private sale but rifles would not, & I've seen guns for sale labeled "pre-ban" so I mentioned when I bought it-I was just trying to give all the information concerning the rifle so the answer I got would be an informed answer. Someone at work did mention a dealer like a consignment sort of thing but they would take a cut of the sale so I wanted to see about the legality of selling it in the paper so I get all of the money. Anyway, I'm sorry if I did something wrong, I am not anti-gun, I will & have stood up for the 2nd amendment, went to the rally in OKC in January, will probably move to Canada if they outlaw guns in this country. I do feel "capable" of handling this, I just wanted to know the laws concerning it. I think if I'm capable of saving someone's life when they code then I think I can handle the transaction of selling a gun.
Sorry I disturbed your forum with my question.

Hi, looking for INFORMED answer regarding private sale of a rifle practically new bought in Dec 2012, fired a few hundred rounds at most - want to sell it. Can I just post it in the paper & sell it? Forgive me if I'm asking a stupid question, I just don't know the law concerning this here in Oklahoma. Please help w/ an answer only if you know FOR SURE - I'm a nurse & I don't want to break any laws. I got into guns a couple of years ago. Can I just list it in the paper & sell it to an individual or what? I've been told by people at work that this would be a private sale & is legal in Oklahoma - is this true?
Thanks so much for any help with this.
Stephanie
I'm fairly new to this form and I'm surprised by the responses you have received. Maybe the form has had issues with people posting fake questions. Not sure why you are getting the blow back. To answer your question. In Oklahoma you can legally sell the rifle. But, you cannot sell it to a known convicted felon, a person that has been adjudicated a delinquent, or a person that has been adjudicated mentally deficient. Or, of course, a minor. The important word here is KNOWN. You place an ad. Someone responds, you meet them and exchange money for the rifle. You can simply ask them if are legally able to own a firearm. If they say yes, and you have no way of knowing they don't, you are good to go. It's a good idea to get some type of Bill of Sale. If the weapon is traced for any reason the last FFL transfer will be the dealer to you. When they come to you, you can show the Bill Of Sale.
