Recent pricing

We've all seen it. But, it's getting better. Pricing has been coming down and more drops are being had every week. Orders are getting filled (I know, someone bring up 2 years of back logs) and things are starting to show up on shelves again. People are going to try to recover their money on the overpriced stuff they bough, or the will just flat out ask ridiculous prices for stuff and hope someone is desperate enough to buy it. That's part of the problem with a society that has become a "got to have it now" group. There's a post here that I don't agree with, but hey, it is what it is and it's a free market. (Actually, there's more than one) But I also don't agree with the comments being made in the guys for sale post. It's just muddying it up. So I brought it here. I felt I had to reply to one of the comments. It didn't' take long to find better pricing either. Now, just how long can the masses wait? My reply without further ado:

246 at Midway. They've been getting about 3 or 4 drops a week. Add Hazmat, shipping and tax and still cheaper. It's a free market and people will pay what they can afford when they can afford it. I don't begrudge him that.

Prices will go back up when the .gov refills everybody’s bank account with the 2 trillion stimulus. Prices will never go down thanks to all the free money being printed. People feeling good about having money in the bank is just a temporary euphoria before the reality of socialism sets in. Buckle up folks.

Do you expect someone to sell based on prices that “might” show up again on high volume “distributor” type places like midway, powder valley, Gene Sears etc?

Look at what Jerry’s, H&H, Murfs and more common places get for it. Pre-covid they were getting 50-70%+.

The funny part is that most of the people I see complaining don’t have any they willing to sell cheaper or even at the same price. Most ain’t buyers or sellers, they are just bitchers. I’ve been guilty of the same thing.

There are plenty of ads that deserve scrutiny but I don’t think he is that far out of line.

The days of “steals” and “deals” in the reloading supplies are going to be fewer and further in between.


All the complaining is doing is keeping the really good regulars from offering a few things up for sale. They don’t want the scrutinizing and BS for offering it at less than current panic prices, but more than what they paid 18 months ago. I’ve actually had a few tell me this.

What some are willing to pay is nuts.
But sometimes you must feed the squirrels.

I have thought of feeding them a lot of my stock of Primers.
I can wait and get them eventually for cheaper but it is very tempting to just stick 30 boxes of them on gun broker and make
$8,250 and slowly replace them for $1,800.

It is almost stupid not to.. almost like shorting stocks or day trading get in and out and make a few hundred and go fishing.

I was thinking it is taking advantage of people.. but I put some math to it on reloading supplies.
Say you got 1000 primers for 275 bucks and paid 500 for 8 lbs of powder.
You can still make some ammo for cheaper than you can buy it and it will be more accurate most of the time.

If someone is willing to pay that high price then is must be a need it now thing or they just do not have patients
or they just are not money smart or have too much money.

I thought it was the seller doing this to people but it is not the sellers fault it is the buyer who is at fault.

I've said this before, and it might be a little hard for some of you guys to unwrap; I don't begrudge the guys selling. I'm not against someone making a quick buck.

My issue is with the folks paying those prices. If that would stop, this thing would straighten itself out in no time.

The same 150 rd box of 9mm I paid $23.99 for last Spring before the riots is now $54.99 from the same retailer, and they don't have any. They can choke on it at that price as far as I'm concerned. That is just lunacy, but I'm okay with it. Hopefully that makes the necessary markup on the secondary market so frightfully high nobody in their right mind would pay that for it. When we get there, the pendulum will swing the other way.

I’ll say this again. There are only two parties whose opinion matter and that’s the buyer’s and the seller’s.

Do you all stop driving when the price of gasoline or diesel goes up, stop eating when the price of food rises, or turn off the heat and air when energy prices rise? There are plenty of people still buying and shooting even if it’s more expensive. Nobody is under an obligation to stop what they are doing so that prices will return to previous lows.
