Refilling 1lb Propane Cylinders

Mine is very inexpensive, think it was $12. Just an adapter between the two thread fittings. Screw onto the big tank, screw the small tank on, it has a protrusion that opens the valve, I invert in the top of a 5gal bucket that puts the little tank at an angle to fill to aprox. 80%. Open the big tank and let it sit a while. I have some spares, so just usually do one over each night for a few days. Handy to have.

I’ve refilled the everyday cylinders but I’ve seen too many videos of broke-a@@ed RV’ers refill them and have a fire and burn down their rig.

I've refilled the Coleman 1# bottles several times with a old adapter that screws directly to the 20 lb tank and 1 lb bottle. My experience is I've had several 1 lb bottles leak after refilling. Not a big deal if you're using them right away. They don't leak once connected to the things your using.

Definitely get a filter if using the hose adapter to the 20 lb tank.

If you want your heater to not get plugged up with particulate, put a filter on it.

Those Big Buddy heaters can be hooked directly to 20 lb. cylinders. I also highly recommend getting the 6v adapter so you can run the fan off of house current instead of batteries.

My Big Buddy has a fan. There's a battery compartment for 6 D cells that will run the fan 8 hours. With the 6V adapter, as long as there is power.

Note- Due to recent governmental changes to import tariffs, Mr. Heater has removed the fan on some models of the Mr. Heater Big Buddy (MH18B).

Well that gent at Norther Tool Lied to me. Last night ya’ll,stated that and I went to look at my Big Buddy, the one that can have a bottle on both sides. No fan and really cannot se where one would reside!

Get this, I’ll tell on my brain fart. It was mentioned here about an online filter, looked them up and found them Northern Tool. So out meeting @swampratt cllse By Northern Tool I stopped bought one!

Got home and damn! There was one I had put on the 12ft line a long time ago! Brain Farted Big time!

Was talking to the manager, he went and looked at computer. No fans he can find fit in one. He had the plug in adapter, but it was for Mr Heater radiant house mounted heaters with fans. He also had fans for those type stoves.

Ahhhhhaaaaaaa! I figured it out! Read below in the photo!
