Drinking from the water hose.

We all did it. We all did it often. We all lived...
As a kid with no running water at home, (we had a well we drew water from in a bucket) I went to another kid's house to trade comic books and while there, the otehr kid took a drink out a water hose and his mother saw him and laid into him about how unsanitary and bad that was and I though, how wonderful it would be if I had running water through a garden hose like that at my house. Some people had no idea of hw fortunate they had it as compared to others.
I'm so old I can remember when they didn't have TV commercials in Spanish...

Well now,,,
This doesn't happen often.

Looks like we're both correct or we're both wrong.

First Sonic Drive-In Sign

"The original prototype for the chain was opened in 1953 in Shawnee, Oklahoma by restaurant entrepreneur Troy N. Smith and named Top Hat Drive-In. In 1956 the first franchise opened in Woodward, Oklahoma. The Stillwater franchise drive-in was constructed and opened in 1958, along with another in Enid. In 1959, to avoid conflict with another food business trademarked Top Hat, Smith changed his to Sonic. The first Sonic sign was installed at the third location, Stillwater -- so apparently that cemented its status as the "first" Sonic."

"In 2015, the Stillwater Sonic building was torn down to make way for a modernized Sonic. The original sign ("Service With the Speed of Sound") was retained. A life-size bronze statue of Gene Longworth, Sonic's first manager, awaits your appreciation between chomps and glugs."

So Shawnee was the original,,,
Woodward was the first franchise,,,
But Stillwater got the first Sonic sign.

Amusing to know,,,
Assuming the website is correct.

But it's on the inter-webs,,,
So it has to be true!

I remember the Dairy Queen in 1968 Moore,,,
Had foot-long chili dogs (with mustard and onions),,,
If he was feeling good Pop would spend the $3.00 and get a dozen.

What a treat night that was for us all,,,
Pop got three, Mom could only eat one, we boys got two apiece.

To put it perspective though,,,
Pop worked 1.5 hours to make that $3.00.
