I went from a Mossberg to the 10/22. There are many more accessories available for the 10/22, plenty of mag options between 10, 25, and 50 rounders. I always thought the 10/22 cost more than it was worth, but now that I have one I'll never go back.

Ruger 10/22 is the small block Chevy of the rimfire autoloader world. Tons of aftermarket and info available to show how to make them shoot better. Very limited with the Remington. The one Remington I owned was as accurate as any stock 10/22 but was not as reliable. That is only one Remington. Others may have had better luck.

I have a couple of them and am not impressed with their functionality. They tend to not feed well and jam. I will stick with the stock mags.

That's what I was getting at. You can't find a 10-22 mag and there are still 597 mags in stock at reasonable prices. There is a reason why this is happening.

15-22 is great. Very reliable, very accurate and will eat just about any ammo. Mags are easy to load with the thumb assist on the side. It functions just like an AR-15. The down side used to be the cost since they were twice the cost of a 10/22. However, at today's prices, you can probably own a 15-22 cheaper than you can buy and convert a 10/22 to look like a 15-22. Magazines are tough to find for both the 15-22 and 10/22. If I was buying today, I would buy the 15-22 with the threaded barrel so a suppressor could be added. Last price I heard was $469.99 at Academy with new shipments arriving every couple of days.

My dad owns a 597 with a 3x9 and I have a 10/22 with a Sweet 22 3x9. I shot better groups (30yds) with the Remington. On the other hand, you can modify the crap out of the 10/22. I also have a Marlin 60 a wood stock.

10/22 For accessories and Model 60 for simplicity.

I've owned 10/22s for years now, and my Dad owns 597s in .22LR and .22WMR. The 597 is a decent rifle, but can't compete with the 10/22.

Don't understand this quote - I have both and performance differences are negligible - it is in customization where you see a noticeable difference.
