Thanks for the info. The short rings can't be used because of the 50mm front bell. (tried it). I didn't think there were any more old farts out there like me.:pms2:

Danwn, just a suggestion, It is of course, you rifle, and decision, but personally, were it mine, I would think seriously about, swapping the 50mm pentax for a 3x9x40mm with a longer tube and shorter bells. It seems many of the modern big scopes are designed with picatinny rail mounting in mind, and no thought is given to conventional mounts. Yes I am an old fart also. Much too undignified to be a senior citizen.
