I would have thought production wise they would use the same length regardless of barrel length. Are barrels pretty standard from brand to brand or does each brand cut different threads on their barrels?If the ejector rod was too long it wouldn't fit in the barrel shroud. The cylinder couldn't be closed.
They use as long as can fit or as needed. One of the problems with a 357 in a 1 ⅞” Jframe is the ejector rod isn’t long enough to fully stroke the brass out so if you have a sticky cylinder you can end up with stuck brass.I would have thought production wise they would use the same length regardless of barrel length.
