It's hard to tell with some of the video, but I think access to the Duck is via a door in the rear of the cabin. If so, I think the operator would have had to have cut power to the engine so that those trying to escape wouldn't be cut by the prop(s). As for going out the windows, it looks like there could be four people in seats for almost every window, making a panic exit via the windows a crowded mess.

Was the boat operator a kid hired for summer help or a more experienced type?


Boat driver Robert 'Bob' Williams, 66, was one of the 17 people who died on the Ride the Ducks boat.
Williams was known as Pastor Bob at The King’s Cathedral in Providence, R.I., where he had served as associate pastor and elder for more than a decade before he and his wife moved to the Branson area.
