Recently picked up a Savage Mark II FV SR and now I am exploring scope and ring options. A lot of options out there. Use will mostly be punching paper and small silhouette targets. Looking for something reasonably priced. Some of the ones I have been looking at are listed below.

Bushnell Banner 2 4x12x40
Vortex Crossfire II Rimfire 2-7x32
Vortex Diamondback 4x12x40
Leopold VX-Freedom 3x9x40

Any feedback on the ones listed or other suggested options? Don’t want an overly complicated reticle because while I will be using it so will my 11 year daughter and 10 year old son.

Thanks,

David

I tried a Crossfire 2-7. It wasn’t too my liking and glass clarity wasn’t great. I sent it back. I’ll go look and see what I ended up with.
Also, for small silhouettes at distance, you’re probably better off with a 12-16x.

I have a Nikon Prostaff 2-7x32 on my B22 and hands down that setup would be my small caliber apocalypse gun. Really good combo IMHO. Were I to want another one I'd probably do the same thing but with a 3-9x40, but really that's only because I have a 3-9x40 without a home at the moment. 2-7 is a great power for it.

Second on the B22. I enjoy shooting that one as much as any of my .22s.

There is an older thread that recommended the Primary Arms Classic Series 6x32 ACSS scope for plinking. It is extremely easy to use. I prefer reactive targets and this scope works great for shooting clays and plastic bottles at 100 yds.

Everyone I know that has one of those Primary Arms rimfire models loves them, but I don't own one. I do like the Crossfire II Rimfire 2-7, and I just sold a wonderful Crimson Trace Brushline Rimfire. I'll probably get another one of those someday.
