My children have 24 hour armed security when they are at school, we home school them. What I don't understand is why public schools spend millions of dollars on stadiums, sports programs and nonsense that have nothing to do with the education of our children. I know Okies love their sports and if you are willing to pay for those programs, more power to you. After listening to the NRA press conference I couldn't help but wonder about security funding. Would local taxpayers support a bond measure to pay for armed security in their schools, they sure don't hesitate to pay for a new football field.

In my department we have several SRO's in schools part of the contract is that the Schools have to pay for the officers salary or part of their salary. Most of the time they have to choose between firing a teacher or hiring for security. Football gmaes, basketball games are extra off duty security jobs for the officer.

What people are overlooking is the FFDO example. Pilots who are also FFDOs get no extra money for carrying a weapon. They pay for their training, for their ammo, and for their holster AFAIK. Arming teachers (if we go that route) should be handled the exact same way.

And when I talk about arming teachers, I'm not looking to form SWAT teams at each school. I want teachers to be able to lock the door and put their front sight in the doorway, ready to press the trigger multiple times if a bad guy comes in. There is no need for a teacher to run to the sound of the gunfire. Let them "shelter in place," as it were.

A bond has to be voted on and passed by the community before they can fund a project such as a football or baseball field.
In our district the coaches responsible for keeping the fields like mowing and edging.

I like the idea of allowing teachers, and all school personnel who are willing, to carry if they have the training. I think one congressman suggested CLEET training. And the school district should offer to pay for that training and ammunition for ongoing training. I bet there are even professionals in many communities willing to offer some type of ongoing training for teachers at reduced rates or even free. Then you would have multiple armed guards for the price of one, and the most important factor in stopping these killers is for them to be confronted by someone armed quickly.

Another thing that bothers me is hearing how these killers go from classroom to classroom killing people. Why can't they simply be locked out of the classrooms? Maybe we need to look at the procedures taken when shots are fired and do what is needed to make sure no one can get into a classroom once it is locked down. Maybe we need to beef up the doors, or beef up the locks, or simply have teachers lock the doors when an alarm is sounded.

Obama gave the Muslim Brotherhood 1.5 BILLION dollars. Why the hell are we giving that kind of money to groups associated with Al-Queda and Hamas? Instead of giving money to our enemies, keep it here....that amount would pay for alot of armed security for our own kids.
Let's protect our own.
